Why Does Nascar Have 43 Cars In The Field For The Races?

Is this a magic number?Why not 39 or 44?Why is it always 43 and when did they start this?

  2. from what i have heard,back in the early days of nascar there were no set limits of cars.some races even fielded over 100 cars.

  3. Then real answer is that NASCAR(brian France and Mike Helton ) don’t have the kahunas to retire race numbers. this is their subtle way to honor King richard petty and his # 43
